Privacy note
Last updated 12 September 2026
This note explains what personal data Chef Alonzo collects through this website, why, and how it is looked after. We aim to handle your information in line with Jamaica's Data Protection Act, 2020 and its data protection standards.
What we collect
Only what you choose to send us through the inquiry form: your name, email address, and if you add them, your phone or WhatsApp number, event details (date, number of guests, budget), meal plan goals, dietary needs and your message.
To stop spam and abuse, the website also keeps a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address. It can't be turned back into the original address and is only used to limit repeated submissions. We don't use advertising trackers or sell data.
Dietary needs can reveal health or religious information. Please only share what you're comfortable with, and what we need to cook for you safely.
Why we use it
To reply to your inquiry, plan and quote for your meal plan or event, and keep a record of our conversation. We only use it for these purposes and don't send marketing unless you ask for it.
Who handles it for us
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the website:
- Supabase stores inquiries in a secure database (hosted in the United States).
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Resend delivers the email that tells the chef about your inquiry.
- Cloudflare manages the chefalonzo.com domain.
Because these providers are based outside Jamaica, your data may be processed abroad. We choose providers that use encryption and strong security practices, so your information stays adequately protected.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiries only as long as needed to respond, deliver any booking or meal plan, and meet reasonable record-keeping needs, and then delete them. You can ask us to delete yours sooner at any time.
How we protect it
The website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Inquiries can only be read by signed-in administrators, access is protected by passwords and database security rules, and we don't publish your details anywhere on the site.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2020 you can, among other things:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it, or to block, erase or destroy it;
- ask us to stop processing that causes you unwarranted damage or distress;
- tell us not to use your data for direct marketing.
To make a request, email hello@chefalonzo.com or use the inquiry form. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact Jamaica's Office of the Information Commissioner.
Changes
If we change how we use personal data, we'll update this note and the date at the top.
This note is a plain-language summary and is not legal advice.
